Merry merry!

On Rowan's first Christmas, he got lots of paper! He's such a slow gift-opener that this picture was from December 26.

xmas is delicious!

Rowan also gave us a present: rolling over from back to front for the first time--then again immediately after. Then on Monday he cut his first tooth, and Tuesday rolled over again. Such a busy week!

Another day...

Another visit to mama's office.

At the office

Rowan was being held by Stephen before this and got upset--I'd walked away and a number of loving ladies swarmed around him. That's when I realized he was starting to develop attachments. Turns out one of his favorite things is simply to be held by someone he loves and look at someone else he loves, especially if that someone else is smiling and talking to him in a happy way. I hope his transition to the childcare center in January goes smoothly!

Dinner time

...but not for Rowan. Seth and I eat dinner and pick up toys, trying to predict which side they'll fall to. It's lots of fun.

Milestones

Sunday: reaching for the pictures in his favorite book, "I Kissed the Baby." He was laughing out loud at the pages "I tickled the baby. Did you tickle the baby? / Yes! I tickled the baby, the wriggly, giggly thing" previously. Very cute.

Monday: learned a new vocabulary--as in, fun screeching sounds. Extremely cute and sometimes extremely loud. Sometimes this is a happy voice, sometimes not...

Party time

Hm, I was going to say the above picture is another milestone, but it's not the first work event of mine that Rowan's attended! That would be the baseball game back in September. We do have fun at my job. Anyway, last week we had a launch party for the premiere of our new series, Reel NW. The film Wheedle's Groove kicked us off, and the musicians from the film are still playing today--including at our party. What a great time! Rowan's ears were protected thanks to borrowed headphones (we'll be buying our own for sure) and he enjoyed dancing with papa.

Rowan does seem to like to sleep 12 hours in a row--he's still snoozing, though I had to bring him to bed and shut off all lights last night for him to finally fall asleep. He's a good baby, keeping us busy!

First class

Rowan playing at Family Works, Weds. 9/1/10

Rowan's a first-class baby... this was his first official class, thanks to Family Works. Thanks, community! We had a great time singing and practicing tummy time. Usually tummy time's not a popular activity, but Rowan seems to like busy rooms.

Rowan!

When we created this blog, Seth said it'd be useful for more than just the wedding. We skipped over house-buying but we can catch up on that--the house ages in a much less interesting way than the baby! I hope we'll find time to update the header and template to reflect the new focus of the blog...

Rowan Calder, born July 25, 2010, at 5:22 p.m., 7 pounds, 7 ounces and 18 inches.

Today, Rowan is one month and two days old, and he's upwards of 11 pounds and maybe around 23 inches. I'm honestly not sure of his current weight/length, but it's mainly chin!

And he's awake again--see you later!
